The African IP Trust was initiated in April 2010, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and based on the fundamental principle of the IP Value Capture – to expand the choices of African farmers and producers as well as other types of indigenous stakeholders from only dependency on commodity markets to ownership and management of brands and distribution in retail markets.
The conference focused on the practical elements needed for large numbers of producers, artisans, farmers and other rights owners being able to manage IP enforcement in export markets, as part of implementing IP Value Capture.
